What is Significant?
The house, constructed in 1930-31, at 21 Rayner Street, Altona. The house at 21 Rayner Street, Altona is of local historic and aesthetic significance to the City of Hobsons Bay. Historically, it is significant as one of a small number of dwellings that demonstrate an era of growth in the Altona area after the Altona estate was revived during the interwar period. (AHC criteria A4 and B2) Aesthetically, it is significant as a superior example of a typical Californian Bungalow, which is notable for its distinctive tripled-gabled form and full range of decorative features that are typical of the style.
