What is Significant?
The house, constructed by David Rodger in 1930, at 88 Railway Crescent, Williamstown. The house at 88 Railway Crescent, Williamstown is of local historic and aesthetic significance to the City of Hobsons Bay. Historically, it is significant for its strong associations with the locally important Rodger family. (AHC criteria A4 and H1) Aesthetically, it is significant as a locally rare and intact example of a successful and unusual design, which uses the modish Swiss Chalet form of the 1920s in a way more typical of nineteenth century construction. (AHC criteria B2, E1 and F1)
