What is Significant?
'St Ayles', constructed in 1891, at 72 Pasco Street, Williamstown. 'St Ayles' at 72 Pasco Street, Williamstown is of local historic and aesthetic significance to the City of Hobsons Bay. Historically, it is significant for its long association with one local family with probable connection to local industry or the railways. (AHC criteria A4 and G1) Aesthetically, it is significant as a near original and locally rare example of an Italianate villa constructed in brick with distinctive details such as the polychromatic brickwork, verandah detailing, slate roof and chimneys and is complemented by an original front fence. It makes an important contribution to the historic character of Pasco Street. (AHC criteria B2, E1 and F1)
