The Morang Road Precinct, Hawthorn, is an area of heritage significance for the followingreasons:

-The place centres on the historically significant Hawthorn Railway Station, developedand in continuous use since 1861 (present building commenced in 1890).

- The place comprises a consistent and relatively intact group of later nineteenth centuryhousing, in both terraced and detached form.
