STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

The General Store, Ocean Grove was built in the 1890's by Mr T Prescott, a local builder. The original fabric is believed to be underneath the current facade and extensions.

It is ofsocial and historicsignificance to the local Ocean Grove commuity.

The General Store, located on the Terrace, Ocean Grove's main street, has been serving the local community since the 1890's. The store was central to the 'permanent' community of Ocean Grove and to the summer visitors. It was extensively altered in the 1930's.

It is of LOCAL significance.
