C Listed - Local Significance The Boer War Memorial, erected in Kardinia Park in 1902 by public subscription, stands as an obelisk on a square stone base of truncated sections. The inscriptions serve to commemorate the lives of Trooper Walter. E. Clark and Corporal Eric A. Wilson as well as Mounted Infrantryman A.T.Pickinson and Francis James, Local Volunteers, who died in teh South African conflict. The marker also records succintly the history of the Boer War. The obelisk is of traditional form an appropriate symbol for a war memorial. Reference Lang, W.R., 'Geelong's Monuments and Plaques', No. 86 Geelong Historical Records Centre.
