STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

'Narada' Homestead was originally constructed in 1864 as an L-plan single storey bluestone residence for john Browne, the designer for this stage being John Young, architect of Geelong. Joseph Watts designed extensive alterations and additions in 1873, including construction of a second storey in bluestone with Barrabool freestone dressing. FW Armitage later acquired the property. John Browne and later FW Armstrong were noted Anakie district pastoralists, the homestead still being retained in the Browne family ownership
