B Listed - Regional Significance The Presbyterian Church at Anakie, a primitive gothic structure erected in 1865 as a simple rectangular plan church with fine axed basalt mouldings and slate roof, is further illustration of the inventive and original architecture of John Young of Geelong. The building is an unusual and non-conformist gothic structure built without ornamentation and most notable for the exaggerated facade design and pointed arch patterns. The Church has interesting associations with the predominant Scottish community at Anakie and with the Browne family at 'Narada Estate'. John Browne laid the foundation stone on 4th January, 1856.
