STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The history of 'Innisfail' at Cross Street, Batesford, is unrecorded in detail. This single storey basalt rubble house with sandstone quoins and dressings, timber verandah and slate roof was erected in the 1850's as a pair of houses in the colonial vernacular cottage style. The original occupants are unknown. The houses were apparently occupied by a ladies school conducted by the Presbyterian Church from 1866-1878
