The Old Bakery is a weather board shop of fair external integrity but the actual bakery situated in a building to the rear of the site has very good integrity.

It is of social, scientific and historic significance to the local Portarlington community T

he Old Bakery most likely dates from the 1880s. It is of social and historic significance in its contribution to the commercial history of Newcombe Street Portarlington which was important to residents in Portarlington township, summer visitors and the surround ing farms . The shop has been in continuous use since it was built. The bakery building consisting of the large brick oven and other purpose built equipment and joinery is of technical interest.

It is of LOCAL cultural sign ificance.
