C Listed - Local Significance The War Memorial at Drysdale in the grounds of the former Drysdale Courthouse is a granite obelisk sitting on a plinth. It has a rising sun insignia. It was unveiled in 1919 and listed the soldiers from the Drysdale area who died in the First World War. The names of servicemen who died in the Second World War were later added. The War Memorial at Drysdale has historic and social value to Drysdale and the surrounding community. The War Memorial at Drysdale is associated with two momentous events which had a substantial impact on the local rural community. At a community level as a public monument, it symbolises the contribution made by the local community to Australias War involvement and at a private level it lists the names of the individuals who made the supreme sacrifice.
