STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

The former St Leonards Post Office was built in the early 1920s and incorporated post office and residence. There has been a later addition to the building.

It is of historic and social significance to the local St Leonards community.

The former St Leonards Post Office was built on the foreshore above the pier in the 1920s replacing an earlier post office on the same site. In June 1939 the Post Office was relocated to its present site in Murradoc Road with a new section being added to accommodate the postal services. The building was associated with postal services in two Bellarine Peninsu a communities and the Corrigan family operated the postal services on both sites for over 25 years .The building is now a residence .

It is of LOCAL cultural signif icance.
