B Listed - Regional Significance STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The former Weslyan Methodist Church near Porarlington was designed by the long established early Geelong architect/engineer, Andrew McWilliams. This early English gothic Revival parish church, constructed as a rectangular plan hall with central porch and belcote was erected in 1865. the structure is an innovative parish church design and a notable work of McWilliams, a versatile architect and a municipal engineer whose principal works include the Portarlington Mill, Protestant Orphanage Asylum at Herne Hill and St. James Church of England, Drysdale.
