The house at 2-4 Carr Street is aesthetically significant at a REGIONAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities of the interwar Californian Bungalow style. These qualities include the steeply pitched gable roof that traverses the site, together with a skillion dormer and minor single storey gable form to the south. Other intact qualities include the chimney, timber framed windows, window hood structure, and the gable brackets and battening. The house at 2-4 Carr Street is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with the Flinders Estate subdivision of 1887, and with the Barwon Heads Estate subdivision of c.1910, and with the Hay family, long time owners. Overall, the house at 2-4 Carr Street is of REGIONAL significance. Statement of Cultural Significance
