C Listed - Local Significance STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE - GRC - HISTORIC PLACES DOCUMENTATION SHEET NO. 255 The monument of great significance to the people of Geelong and District, and a sacred memorial to the dead of two World Wars (1914-1918) and (1939-1945). RECOMMENDATIONS: PROTECTIVE MEASURES Geelong Regional Commission Register The additional war memorial plaques on the brick dwarf walls, together with the stone First World War memobiral at 56 Barwon Heads Road, are historically and socially significant at a LOCAL level. They are associated with different conflicts in the twentieth century and are recognised and valued by the community as memorials to those who fought in those conflicts. Overall, the First World War, Second World War, Korean, Vietnam and Malayan war memorials at 56 Barwon Heads Road are of LOCAL significance.
