STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The Colonial Vernacular cottage.store at Ceres was apparently erected prior to 1867 for storekeeper Addison Lumb. Built of Barrabool sandstone quarried locally, this primitive gable cottage structure is of six pane Colonial Georgian sashes and an ashlar facade are distinctive elements of this building which, however modest, contributes to the essential village character of Ceres hamlet, a once thriving centre of this important vineyard district.
