STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE:

288 Yarra Street has architectural and historic significance at a local level. It is a representative example of Federation housing which was once common in the Geelong region and has a high degree of integrity. The building retains its characteristic siting and form, as well as notable features including prominent gables, a wide timber verandah, curvilinear Art Nouveau ornament and a complementary garden and hedge. 288 Yarra Street forms part of the residential streetscape. Since its date of construction this dwelling has enjoyed an historic association with the Renshaw family.
