The Former Residence, 265 Brunswick Road is the location of a late 19th century residence, with archaeological features and/or deposits likely to exist at the site, including potential cesspit deposits.
How is it significant?
The Former Residence, 265 Brunswick Road site is of local level historical and archaeological significance. 

Historical – significant at a local level to the people of Brunswick and Merri-bek City Council, for its association with the late 19th century – early 20th century residential occupation of Brunswick Road. 

Scientific – potential to contain archaeological deposits or features older than 75 years pertaining to the use of the site as a late 19th century – early 20th century residence with stables. 

Why is it significant?
The site has potential to yield archaeological remains from the 19th and 20th centuries that may contribute to our understanding of land use and occupation within a residential setting and more broadly within an early Melbourne suburban context. 
The Former Residence, 265 Brunswick Road was constructed on or prior to 1895. Archaeological investigation of the former residence has the potential to confirm the initial construction and occupation dates. There is a moderate to high potential for archaeological features and/or deposits to be present in relation to the historic residence and rear outbuildings and/or structures. Insight gained has the potential to add to our understanding of people or families who resided in Brunswick during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
