The site is historically significant as it is associated with the historically significant establishment and operation of a local school in the rural area by the Education Department from 1930 to 1945. 

The site has archaeological significance for its potential to contain historical archaeological features, deposits and artefacts associated with the construction and occupation of ‘Yellangip East State School no. 3187’ from 1930 to 1945.
