Statement of Significance
What is significant?
Any archaeological features and deposits, including landscape modifications, preserved at the site that relate to the occupation of the site during the period c.1884 to 1930. Including those dating to the early occupation of the site as a farming property from c.1884 to 1893, and the subsequent establishment and operation of a local school from 1893 to 1930.

How is it significant?
The site is of historical and archaeological significance at a local level.
Why is it significant?
The site is historically significant as it is:
Associated with the nineteenth century establishment of farming properties in the region, which took place under a series of Land Acts aimed at encouraging the settlement of the Mallee region for farming purposes, and is potentially illustrative of the construction of residential or farm operation buildings on leasehold land during this period; and
Associated with the historically significant establishment and operation of a private school in the local rural area, run by local residence from c.1893 to 1908, and by the Education Department from 1927 to 1930.
The site has archaeological significance for its potential to contain historical archaeological features, deposits and artefacts associated with the construction and occupation of a building/s for farming (and possible residential) purposes during the period c.1884 to 1893; and the subsequent establishment and operation of a local school from 1893 to 1930.
