Statement of Significance

What is significant?
The information from historical maps and plans and historical accounts indicate that there is potential for a homestead site to be present. The survey plans indicating an area associated variably with Gray and also Pyke suggests the location of a homestead house yard to the south of Korjamnunnip Creek on the property. Field survey would narrow down the likely area of the Gray/Pyke Homestead.
How is it significant?
The Gray/Pyke Homestead is of local historical and archaeological significance.
Why is it significant?
Given the early occupation of the property by firstly Gray, and then subsequently the Pyke family, archaeological evidence may provide details on the nature, scale and way of life of early farming and pastoral households and families. Archaeological investigation may also provide information on the layout of the homestead and identify whether there were any associated outbuildings.
