STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

38-40 Western Beach Road has architectural significance at a local level. The building is a representative example of Late Victorian housing, a type which was once common in the Geelong region. It is an unusual mirrored pair of houses which are prominent in the streetscape. The residences have a high degree of integrity and retain characteristic siting, form and Late Victorian details including a decorative parapet, lacework, and faceted bays. The building forms part of the residential streetscape.
