STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

36 Western Beach Road has architectural and historic significance at a local level. The building is a representative example of decorative Late Victorian housing, a type which was once common in the Geelong region, and is reasonably intact. The building retains its characteristic siting, form and Victorian Italianate details including polychromatic brickwork, fine lacework, and a faceted bay. The building forms part of the residential streetscape. The building has historical associations with the Anglican church as a vicarage for approximately thrity years.
