The Elsternwick Estate and Environs Precinct consists of an enclave of fine residential, other non-domestic buildings and original fences from the Victorian, Federation and Interwar periods.

The Elsternwick Estate and Environs Precinct is of local historical, representative and aesthetic significance to the City of Glen Eira.
Why is it significant?
The Elsternwick Estate and Environs Precinct is historically significant for its nineteenth and early twentieth century building stock and to the extent that it demonstrates a past way of life. The fabric of the Precinct demonstrates the following historic themes which contribute to its significance:
- Mid nineteenth century formation of country residences for which Caulfield is noted;
- Late nineteenth century Boom development of residential subdivisions;
- The collapse of the Land Boom and of its land development schemes and deals which became the subject of criminal charges;
- The provision of public services including pitched roads;
- The Edwardian residential associated with the economic revival of that period;
- The pattern of residential development over time leading to a diverse socio-economic profile expressed in the range of house sizes and types; and
- The development of religious, recreational and social institutions throughout the history of the Area.
