Statement of Significance

What is significant?
The site is located at 1175 Plenty Road, South Morang. This property was purchased by Fredrick Daniel’s in 1885 and a residence was constructed soon after – in 1886 the house is described as comprising a Cordial Factory and two brick houses. One comprising 5 rooms and kitchen detached, and the other containing 7 rooms. Daniel occupied the house until his death in 1902. The house is currently extant but there is evidence of historical archaeological features within the nominated extent including nineteenth century and early twentieth century artefacts and handmade brick.  
How is it significant?
The site is of local historical and archaeological significance. 
Why is it significant?
There is high potential for historical archaeological features, deposits and artefacts to be present within the proposed site. There is evidence of a dense bottle deposit at the rear of the property and other landscape features within the land parcel.
