What is significant?
There have been several key phases of development at Wesley College, commencing with the construction of the original school building in c. 1865. The Back Turf of Wesley College has been in use since the nineteenth century associated with the school and during WWII for the Australian and US military. While there is historical evidence of fill and levelling works within the Back Turf, there is potential for historical archaeological remains within the area, associated with previous use.

The Wesley College Back Turf Archaeological Site is of local historical significance for use associated with Wesley College during the nineteenth century and has military heritage values relating to WWII.
Why is it significant?
The site has the potential to contain archaeological features, artefacts and deposits associated with the nineteenth century use as a school and with the Australian and US arm occupation during WWII.
