Statement of Significance
What is significant?
The extension of St Heliers that is no longer used as a road down to the Yarra River. It currently comprises parts of the Collingwood Children's Farm - Farm Cafe, entrance to the farm, toilet block, animal enclosure, and open paddock.
How is it significant?
The site has the potential to contain historical archaeological features, deposits and artefacts associated with the various phases of occupancy and use from 1842 onward. This includes the Orr family occupation of Abbotsford House from the 1840s to 1860s, and the adaptation of the buildings and land once acquired by the Sisters of the Good Shephard in the 1860s.
