This site potentially preserves archaeological deposits and features that relate to the historic occupation of the allotments on the corner of Victoria Parade and Brunswick Street from at least the late-1840s. The 19th Century occupation involved several building phases predating the construction of the current buildings. These building phases include early timber structures and later brick or masonry terraces. The terraces include a series of yards, verandas-and cess pits that are likely to retain an archaeological representation. Cesspits are known to retain significant artefacts that record the material culture of the allotment's occupants. The site includes open areas between and to the rear of buildings currently used as parking and delivery where the impact of more modern building phases is likely to be lessened and insufficient to have destroy all archaeological evidence of the previous and earlier phases.
