The site is significant because it contributes to the overall
understanding of gold mining in the Bendigo region and its effects on
the landscape. The site is located in proximity to a number of places
that are already listed on the Victorian Heritage Inventory:
H7724-0057 (Deebles/Edwards United Pyrites Works) and the H7724-0060
(Tambour Major) mine are located nearby and H1355 (Victoria Hill
Quartz Mine Complex), listed on the Victorian Heritage Register is
located approximately 2 km to the east. Also on the Victorian Heritage
Register is H0827 (Goldmines Hotel), H2211 (Fortuna Villa), both
located less than 2 km to the east of the site; these places are
reflective of the wealth and industry generated by the gold rushes.
