B Listing - Regional significance
The two storey brick, bluestone and Barrabool Sandstone premises at
105-111 Ryrie Street, Geelong were erected in 1870-71 for an Unknown
investor. The Victorian Italianate Style Buildings with cellars are
possibly the work of local Architect J.L.Shaw, being in a distinctive
mode often used by this Architect. The use of Barrabool Sandstone for
window entablatures parapets quoins in association with rock faced
basalt is a notable feature. This group of shops although altered at
ground level, is an important Ryrie St, Streetscape element. References "City of Geelong Rate Book 1872": 201,202,203,204. Stone 2
