A complex of homestead buildings constructed in bluestone c1873 for Henry Chalk, pastoralist. The complex includes house, kitchen, men's quarters, stables, barn and smithy. The ruins of Chalk's No. 1 Mine are nearby. The house has two storeys and an encircling verandah. The stables feature semi-circular windows. The complex shows remarkable unity of design, materials and detail. It is historically important, and a dominant feature of the townscape and landscape. [Source: Register of the National Estate]
