What is significant? ThisAfrocarpusfalcatus(Yellow-wood)is located inthe grounds of
Mandeville Hall, one of the best examples of the fine town houses
built in fashionable Toorak during the late 1870s and early 1880s for
Victoria's wealthy pastoralists, business and professional men and
their families. The house's grandeur is enhanced by the remaining
parts of the once-extensive gardens, of which this Yellow wood forms a
part. The tree islocated to the north of the front face of the residence. How is it significant? ThisAfrocarpusfalcatus(Yellow-wood) is significant for scientific,
social and historic reasons at State level. Why is it significant? ThisAfrocarpusfalcatus(Yellow-wood) makes a significant contribution
to the surrounding landscape as part of the historic garden of
Mandeville Hall. It is outstanding for its height at 20m, spread of
15-16m and circumference of 2.61m. It is an outstanding example of the
species with excellent form.It is also rareas a male example of the
species which is unusual.There areanotherexamplesof this species on
the register at Rosalind Park in Bendigo (T11386), Drusilla in Mount
