Statement of Significance

The cottage was likely constructed during the first decade of the 1900s when the Chirnsides subdivided their

larger landholdings as part of the Closer Settlement Scheme. The property changed hands a number of times

during the twentieth century: J. P. Chirnside sold the property to R. Rodgers, who then leased the property

to Michael Galvin. John Hanley is known to have been a tenant farmer, Leslie Francis Munckton

also held the property until the mid-1940s.

The house, although in bad condition, remained occupied in 2011; it was demolished c. 2012.
