Location974 BLACK FOREST ROAD WYNDHAM VALE, WYNDHAM CITY LevelHeritage Inventory Site |
The cottage was likely constructed during the first decade of the
1900s when the Chirnsides subdivided their larger landholdings as part of the Closer Settlement Scheme. The
property changed hands a number of times during the twentieth century: J. P. Chirnside sold the property to R.
Rodgers, who then leased the property to Michael Galvin. John Hanley is known to have been a tenant farmer,
Leslie Francis Munckton also held the property until the mid-1940s. The house, although in bad condition, remained occupied in 2011; it
was demolished c. 2012. (see Neylon et al. 2011)
