Statement of Significance

STATEMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE:

This Hoop Pine is significant for aesthetic and scientific reasons at Regional level. This tree considered to be of outstanding size for the Melbourne area, having a height of 23m and canopy spread of 11m. The top of the tree shows reduced vigour from wind exposure. This is a mature specimen in fair condition, and provides a contribution to the surrounding landscape of this Travancore garden. It is likely part of the original garden plantings and is in close proximity to other trees of the same era. The trunk lean is not considered a defect but merely a typical growth habit of the species.
