The Old Emerald Bakery is of local significance as a typical small country-town bakery dating from the early twentieth century and remaining substantially intact. It is representative of the important role played by small commercial bakeries in rural townships before the Second World War. The surviving 'Small & Shattell' scotch-oven contributes to the significance of the bakery, and is one of the few documented ovens to survive from the pre-First World war period.
