Statement of Significance

The Lysterfield Forest area is of regional significance in the Dandenong Ranges area as it provides:

- a visually attractive landscape close to suburban areas, with special features such as the Lysterfield Reservoir, that has high potential for informal, recreational activities

- a visual and ecological link with the forested areas of the Dandenong Ranges

- habitat for a number of species of birds and animals as well as a number of rare plant species within a forest setting that is close to the Metropolitan area.

LOCATION AND BOUNDARIES:

Lysterfield Forest area is located south-west of the Dandenong Ranges. This area extends from south Belgrave across Wellington Road and includes the Lysterfield Reservoir and Catchment area.
