STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

25 Balmoral Crescent has architectural significance at a local level. The building is a representative and substantially intact example of a brick Bungalow residence, a housing type once common in the Geelong region. It retains its characteristic siting, form and typical details including a large terracotta tile gable roof with infill decoration, double hung sash windows with lead light glazing, and timber brackets, as well as a notable entrance portico as a balcony to the attic storey.

Description

25 Balmoral Crescent is a substantially intact red brick and render building that is sited overlooking the Geelong shipyards. The front facade is difficult to view from the yards and from the street, however, it appears to feature a large gable roof with attic storey, simple portico entrance with columns and balcony and rendered walling above, double hung sash windows, and able infill decoration including imitation timber wall shingles. The roof is terracotta tiles and has tall rendered chimneys with brick mouldings. The side facade features a decorative gable infill similar to the front as well as large decorative timber brackets. At the rear of the site is a recent red brick extension, and red brick fence.
