STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

One of only two 1850's buildings by the architects Walter Ferrier, remaining in Geelong. It is a substantial reminder of, the importance of the route to the goldfields fro Geelong, and the local hub of activity during the brickfields era. It is of regional significance.

The excellent photograph of the hotel prior to external alterations could be used in the future to restore the original window openings and decorative treatment if restorative treatment desired.
