What is significant? The pipe organ at Christ Church, Echuca is of interest for its incorporation of the physical structure of an organ built in 1873 by George Fincham for St Giles' Presbyterian Church, Geelong and its recycling into an organ for Echuca in 1919 by Frederick Taylor.
How is it significant? The organ is significant for historic, aesthetic and technical reasons at a regional level
Why is it significant? The pipe organ at Christ Church, Echuca is significant for the following reasons:
. It includes case and console parts, windchests, frame and swell box from an early organ built by George Fincham
. The Fincham organ was the first he built for a Presbyterian Church and is likely to have been the first pipe organ specifically built for a Presbyterian Church in Victoria
. The Fincham parts were recycled by Frederick Taylor, who modified the original cedar casework to suit its new location
. It includes pipework replicated by Taylor to match the Fincham material that was kept for a new organ at St Giles' Church
. The instrument retains much of its 1919 construction
. It is the largest pipe organ in the region
