STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

A characteristic early timber house built in 1889, surviving on the smaller "workingmen" allotments around Chilwell, becoming rarer due to demolition or adaptation to current needs. Architecturally significant locally as representative of an early "workingmens" cottage and historically significant locally as a representative embodiment of the worker's way of life on early Newtown.

INTACTNESS

Fair only. Several elements have been replaced: fence, gates, verandah (excepting perhaps the brackets), windows, probably front door and roof plumbing. There is a lo-[pitched skillion extensions which is relatively inconspicuous.

CONDITION

Very Good.
