STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

No 2 Ardlui Drive is of state architectural significance as an early use, in 1969, of thin shell reinforced concrete in domestic construction outside Melbourne (where it's first uses were by Kevin Borland and Robin Boyd in 1952-54). It was constructed by the Newtown firm Monolithic Structures, and has historical significance as an example of the use of new materials for substantial residence built on a new subdivision to the west.
