C Listed - Local Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
An unusual and interesting Spanish Mission house built in the 1920s. It is architecturally significant locally as a fine and intact surviving example of the Spanish Mission style. It is historically significant locally as an embodiment of a particular way of life in Newtown between the wars and perhaps of the aspirations of its owner. Also probably as an early and pioneering example of this style here. INTACTNESS: Apparently, excellent. The porch may have been infilled to form the right projecting bay. CONDITIONS AND THREATS. Excellent. None REFERENCES: City of Newtown and Chilwell Ratebooks - 192?, 1927-28, 1937-38 Sands & McDougall Directory of Victoria - 1946, 1956, 1961, 1970
