Location79 Aberdeen Street, NEWTOWN VIC 3220 - Property No 200042 LevelIncl in HO area indiv sig |
C Listed - Local Significance STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE A characteristic Edwardian house built in 1909. It is architecturally significant locally as a characteristic Edwardian style house, with interesting craftsmanship to verandah fretwork and turned decoration to valence brackets and posts and as one of a group of 12 relatively intact and most varied in Aberdeen Street. It is significant historically as a representative embodiment of the way of life in Edwardian Newton. Intactness: The verandah has infill. The roof is inappropriately clad with presumably metal mock Marseilles pattern tiles. The picket fence is recent, with a wrought iron gate. The security screen door is also not appropriate.
