Statement of Significance

Architecturally, this church is a successfully designed, generally original and early example of a rarely used ecclesiastical style in the 19th century, that of the Byzantine revival. It is also enhanced by the more pedestrian but original Sunday School adjoining: of State importance.

Historically - a major public building on one of the older church sites in the area: of local importance.
