Statement of Significance

This substantial two-storeyed brick residence has historical significance for its associations with Henry Byron Moore, its first owner in 1886-87. Moore, a stockbroker and land dealer, was lessee of the Grace Park Estate, the possible designer of the subdivision, and organiser of the 1884 Grace Park architectural competition. the building has significance, also, for its associations with the second owner in 1887, Richard Guthridge, an important Victorian merchant. Gutheridge was the first owner in 1886 of "Crossakiel", another double-storeyed brick residence at 26 Kooyongkoot Road.
