Statement of Significance

Specific Memorials for the Boer War are quite rare. The presence of two separate war memorials placed side by side together in the one area is even more so. The Wangaratta memorials are both restrained and elegant in design, with their tall, slender shapes set off by the vertical planes of the cathedral and bell tower in the background. Their garden setting is enhanced by the beautiful trees around the site.
