Maytone, Queenscliff

Maytone was built in the 1880s for barrister, Victorian parliamentarian, Solicitor-General and Crown Prosecutor, Travers Adamson. The
Victorian Government bought the property in 1891 and ownership transferred to the Commonwealth in 1900. From 1900 to 1910 it
accommodated fort commandants, from then until 1945 it was used as an officers' mess and has since been used to accommodate military
officers.
