It is historically significant as a rare surviving example of a fuel tank constructed during World War Two as part of a program of locating fuel storages in strategic locations throughout the country in case of invasion. It provides tangible evidence of the wide range of measures undertaken by the Commonwealth Government to improve Australia's defensivecapabilitiesduring World War Two. (Criteria A & B)
