Statement of Significance as recorded under the Queenscliff Heritage Study 2009
Werona is of historical and architectural significance to the Borough of Queenscliffe, as en early twentieth century weatherboard holiday house at Point Lonsdale. Architecturally, Werona is a conservative building for its 1880s date, and is also relatively 'pure' in terms of its Victorian design, a characteristic shared by very few Point Lonsdale buildings. It is also more broadly demonstrative of the symmetrically fronted houses in central Queenscliff, which have hipped roofs, verandahs below the main eaves, and symmetrically placed arrangements of central front doors flanked by double-hung sash windows.
