Statement of Significance as recorded under the Queenscliff Heritage Study 2009 Riplee is of historical and architectural significance to the Borough of Queenscliffe. It is of historical significance as an early twentieth century holiday house in Point Lonsdale. Architecturally, Riplee demonstrates the individual variation possible within Federation architecture. Unusual elements include the asymmetrical design with two gabled wings to the street, fenestration with solid reveals and casement subdivision with coloured panes, the floating gablet, and asymmetrical front door case with one sidelight panel. In contrast to this, however, Riplee shares its timber construction and verandah, with square-slatted verandah frieze, with many other broadly contemporary houses of the district. It is also quite modern in appearance and a very early example of more recognisably suburban architectural modes being transplanted to Point Lonsdale.
